God Is A Verb, Not A Noun ~ The Shack

Judy says, "I think the concept of living in verbs, in expectancy rather than expectations, living in relating with God rather than submitting or worshipping, seems so much more dynamic and seems to have much more potential." The Shack (William Paul Young) was relaying this message.
It's the ultimate in "I am". BEing. Allowing the Eternal to flow freely through us is what stops the struggle against life unfolding. I'm laughing as I type this, because so many people, spiritual people, are facing real challenges this week. I guess BEing is not synonomous with pain free! Suffering free perhaps, but not pain free. Growth is not an option; it's a requirement, dang it.
When I turn this mirror onto myself, look deeply into my life, it is both joy and sorrow for certain. There is a lot of pain in the transitions, I kid you not. I realize that you all know it's true. God is not a noun. Got isn't out there waiting for you, looking out for you, looking over you. God is within. It is your every move and thought and gift. It is the core of your very existence, the reaching of your soul, the beat of your heart, the exhale and inhale, the very Love that you extend. God is a verb.
So in this week of challenges, what keeps coming to the forefront is the edge. Our spiritual selves are the edge between the future and the now… Just before there is something to note, just before we have observed or experienced… just BEFORE there is the Eternal. Creating. On the edge, never-ending creation. We are that. We are the Infinite, the verb, the very Creator Itself.

I once read No Boundary by Ken Wilber, a favorite for many people within this virtual community. I was in Iraq, enduring that which I still feel is the pinnacle of my “48 hour” hardships.
And I was given a gift of insight: I can be drenched in mud, hungry, cold, exhausted, awaiting death for a cause I don’t agree with…I can be burning alive, or a mother who has decided to abort her child’s birth; I can be entering into a lifetime of love and marriage, or waking up in a bachelor’s trash-strewn basement realizing my divorce is complete…
In the end, I alone am an organism given the chance to emotionally, physically, and SPIRITUALLY live through those experiences. The chance to hold that within me…what a gift!!!! There are entire PLANETS that will never experience such exquizite complexity!
And…GOD…the chance to experience Predator/Prey dance, 100,000 Billion Years of evolving towards our current Information age, in which 6.5 Billion points of view are experiencing 6.5 Billion different shades in the Spectrum that IS human experience…then couple that with the Spectrum of BEING, from anaerobic bacterium munching on Rock to certain Whales, singing their entire life story for months and filling the oceans with Song…

BINGO!!! I aAm SO damn estatic for YOU right now, michele. YES!!! Averb indeed. Because the blessing is NOT in what we “see” as IT. The Blessing is in The Action, The Giving, The transferral. Energy constantly flows (yes, I KNOW of potential energies….let’s “pretend” we’re ALL on The Same Page for once here, shall we). IT is a constant change, a constant flowing. The Beginning & The End? Is there even such a thing with power? Yes, there ARE those of YOU that shall formulate & explain this as a needs BE from within YOU, but what does IT MATTER (to which I even add here, that your input DOES matter, regardless of IT’S own viewpoint)? What I AM Reading in these blogs & comments of late has just raised my awareness of even just a small portion of how much greater GOD is than what I have EVER perceived IT to BE. When IT is said that “GOD is LOVE”, we need perceive IT as a verb, NOT that of a noun. Even “GOD” needs BE perceived as a verb.
ok….this is what “I” Bring to This Table Here. IT is in agreement with every comment here now & even those to come, EvEN the ones of which there shall appear an opposition with. IT’S ALL GOOD, IT’S ALL GOD.

Hello Michele, well said, it as if there is this place where it is not about accepting all things but understanding all that is. Now if you can cross over that very small point to see how one is part of all and it is all part of one. Then any singular unique view is also a view of it all. It as if I becomes we and we become one inperpetuum. To view existence not with your mind or as we are taught to think but as your mind is also the collection of all that has ever existed from the beginning to the end.

I’m sorta smiling more than I should be… ‘cause I get to define God by my own perceptions and revelations rather than by what any other book or person ever says, and “knowing” God within is sure different than the written/learned intelligences of God… I have a little of both : ) Maybe more than a little?
I’m going over the wall and actually throwing America inside of me, all of you guys inside of me, the universe inside of me… and just topping it all off with God. God is within, everything is within. I could argue the opposite and it would be equally true.
Mastery… hate that word… sounds like BEing is something to accomplish, that’s soooo twisted. But I would say if I was using the word Mastery, that it takes utter surrender : ) Surrender can be dang passive, irritatingly passive.
I don’t disagree overall, but then, I do not have a God that is separate from myself, and I am tied into all you mentioned. No limits… wow, how do I even convey the Truth about no limits???
So the question of today really comes down to “what is enlightenment”? What would change within the perception of anyone reading this if I divulged All that I am (whichactually I have… if you’ve read enough blogs)? What would change for the readers of any of the comments above if they looked on them as the words of the enlightened ones? Interesting to think about. Perhaps some of the people in the line up have received the Grace of that title… I’ll pretend that I don’t know who or which…
Dear Daniel, There was once a traveling healer who went from place to place assisting the lame to walk and the blind to see. Now, one day this person came upon a blind person sitting at the side of the road, and the person though unable to see knew this traveller was coming so asked as they passed for them to give them sight. Well the healer sat down beside the blind person and said.
“I will give you sight, I will show the brightness of the dawn, the flight of angels and the wind resting on their wings if this is what you want”.
“Yes” said the blind person “this is what I want”
” are you sure my friend” said the travelling healer ” because no longer will you be able to beg, no longer will you have excuses why you do not work, no longer will others come to your aid bringing you to the well or food to fill your hunger.” pausing for a second they then added” so are you sure? ”
“Yes!” said the blind person” for then I will be my own master no longer a slave to the whim’s of others.”
“Ok then” said the healer and taking some dirt from the ground spat into it and placed it in the eyes of the blind person who immediately jumped up and ran off telling everyone he could now see.
So you see Daniel while I have no doubt true spirituality come from serving humanity one must ever be careful of what comes out of your mouth and the dirt you leave on you own hand.
