Judging Judgment

Posted on Jan 14th, 2009 by michele : I <3 Om! michele

Tonight's lecture had nothing to do with this... It was on grieving, on the process of dying, of accepting the Eternal step to the next plane.  But the speaker read a quote that caught my ear.  "Jesus said, 'The final judgment is close at hand... we will be judging judgment itself.'"  She was referencing a book about an artist's conversations with the Lord while she painted his portrait (in our era).

But this could be straight out of "The Shack"!  Judgment is held as the contempt that keeps us from realization of the Realities of God.  When you dissect that, it makes some sense.  I'm not sure that logic is necessary in spirituality; in fact I've seen it be entirely obliterated by the Eternal, but I can do this one...

When we judge, we have decided that we know God's intention.  Judging comes across in so many ways, in looking in the mirror, in deciding what is the best thing to eat, in choosing friends, in religious zeal, in a myriad of typical ways...Anytime good and bad, right and wrong, evil and spiritual, anytime we face the aspects of existence and give them a label, we are deciding for God.  I remember this:  "Judge not, lest thee be judged."

It's a really broad and difficult task, don't you think?  I had a dream (or I'm told an Astral event, hmmm) where people were basically killing adults and torturing children.  Hey, I didn't judge!!!  Or did I?  At the end of the dream, I remember that my heart was comforted by the fact that a man had some of the harmed children and that he said that he would take care of them and love them, even though God had their souls already (they were no longer mentally cognizant).  Can you watch these situations, and leave the judging in the hands of the Eternal?  Can you look at the circumstances in front of you, the violence, the horror, the corruption and war, and have FAITH that God has the situation handled, and that any "judgment" on your part will distance you from the Great Mystery?

A lifelong challenge... a struggle to the death, like a bout in the WWF (or whatever it is now)!  Our job is to love, unconditionally, infinitely, wholly, to love.  Judgment falls flat.  We are to look at everything as the perfection of our Creator, and we are to fulfill our roles as the outpouring of Love Eternal.  Good luck with that!

I wonder if there's a 12 Step Program in Heaven called "Judgers Anonymous"...

There’s a difference between judging from one’s viewpoint and pure understanding. Viewpoint understanding is looking from one’s own opinions, ideas and judgments. This means one experiences everything wearing the coat of one’s personal past. Pure understanding means seeing things from the other side. Truly walking a mile in the other person’s shoes, without intruding one’s own opinion. The reason this is important spiritually is viewpoint looking does not make for spiritual growth. Even if one is not “judgmental” the fact of not looking at the other side precludes the sort of understanding that grows one.

This can almost be applied physically. One moves to the other viewpoint and looks at it to the point one agrees with it. Then one moves back to one’s own viewpoint, looks it over, and decides what to think about it. That process is spiritual growth.

This can be unreal or pretty uncomfortable for many people. A reasonable starting point is applying methodology to recover more of one’s own attention, as in yoga, meditation, and other practices. But the main thing one is doing is understanding either one’s own viewpoints or anothers.

When one can truly accomplish this understanding, judgment as wrong doing is not a problem.

It’s easier for me to be clear (or unclear! : ) outside of the blog itself… ‘cause nothing needs to flow! Hee hee hee.

In the dream, the deal with non judgment was that I understood what brought those men to their position… I had internal view of their hardships, their pains, the things that brought them to their choices… and in Kwami’s words “If I were them, I would be do just as they did”.

Now, I notice that there is something inside me that doesn’t consider their actions in alliance with God’s intention, that is if love is the only goal… I know that just unfolding uniquely as God dictates gets equal billing with some folks.

My viewpoint understanding is like watching as if the I that I am is a witness, thinking PROTECT THE KIDS!!!, do something about these villians, stop the situation!

Pure understanding puts me behind the eyes of the men in uniforms, thinking their thoughts of powerlessness, their need for financial reward, their fear of the threat of death from the ranks above, their histories and hardships in earlier life…

Am I understanding?

Yes! Kwami is exactly right in my opinion. We all began as equivalent pieces of God. The only difference is experience. This is a reason pure understanding is possible. If that person had lived your existence he or she would look at things exactly as you do, and vice versa. Our only difference is viewpoint. Which seems like a bit hard to believe with all these complications. But it is why the purest truth is the simplest.

Viewpoint in bodies tends to be about security and protection, both of the body and the viewpoint. The more one attempts to create power with viewpoint, the more likely one is to operate in a non spiritual manner. That is, without understanding.

Quite a dream, Michele. I usually just have dinosaurs chasing me.

Kevin wrote my favorite Kwami quote. It has helped me get thru many days at a toxic workplace. lol

I just want to say that in the case of the food, some of that might be choice rather than judgement based many many different factors. :)

ok…even BEfore reading all the comments to this blog, i want to put THIS out there, THEN go back & read the rest of everyone else’s viewpooints (‘cause I KNOW that each & every one of them wil in fact BE GOD witnessing to me here). Jesus, when led into the wilderness/dessert for the 40 days/night period, was tempted of Satan many times. But with each of those times, Jesus didn’t lash back out in defense, nor judge satan even for that which satan offered up to Jesus, that Jesus would accept & BEcome. No…in fact, Jesus pretty much just blew satan off, even to the point of saying, “satan, get thee behind me”, meaning that satan had no effect upon where Jesus was going, and that ONLY in his past did satan already exist (in a power form perhaps, anyway). Satan was there for A Purpose, that Jesus already knew of. But Jesus took the situation head on & allowed tThe Spirit within himself to easily manipulate the situation, not allowing something else not desired to manipulate the situation, thus the outcome.

ok, NOW I’m gonna read all of y’all’s comments. I’ll BE back…..

NOW then….having had the blessing of reading from 3 diffeent GODly viewpoints here, I AM pleased in what has been shared here within the parameter of this blog thus far. My dream last night is one that I got to remember a part of two that was need BE for myself to remeber, which was that upon something happening to me numerous times, I had this infinite power to retalliate back upon the aggressor, which I remember myself doing sevral times, and at the end of the dream, whether it still BEing contained within the confines of the dream or after I awoke & lay there wide awake listening to GOD opne the gates of Heaven upon me (hey! That’s what IT felt like), IT carried me to Jesus’s period of temptation & how he handled that series of events (successfully, i might add). Kevin…Michele…., Debby….thanx BE to ALL for BEing used of GOD here this morn to continue this lesson that I AM BEing learned of this day, this need in this part of GOD that IS.

I agree that there is too much judgment doled out by people- although we were not given that authority. And I also agree that we need to have faith that God is in control of our situation. But I think it is dangerous to let the knowledge of God’s control make us passive people who see evil in our world and do not move against it.

I think we should move in a positive direction, we should put action, not judgment, behind our beliefs of God, peace, love and equality and know that God is in control of our situation and if we make a miss step he will guide us back on our path.

But we can not let the fear of being judgmental keep us from being positive forces in the world.

What if there is a difference between action and judgment. I can be called upon to move away from something or even contain something that is harmful to me or my child - that is taking care of what is entrusted to me. The problem is when I become the victim (mentally) of the situation or seek retribution - as opposed to neutrally doing what is best for those I am responsible for. The action is current in the present, the judgment is always looking at something in the past. Mayube?

Oooo babies, awesome! I perceive the deal to be that we need to be tuned in to our personal unfolding as facets of the Eternal, and move to follow through. It’s hard to give something the title “positive” or “negative” ‘cause that’s God’s job… but, I have always been and likely will always be an advocate for children, my role, so to me, that’s “positive”. For someone else that could be utterly disasterous. By all means, stay in action! Or if the Spirit moves you, stay in inaction : )

OMG… the way I came into this string, I missed Rich’s first block completely when I commented!!! First, I think the human interpretation of Jesus’ temptations can get twisted at times… ‘cause people are expecting evil to come at them, when the journey is in FAITH. When following where led, we have to have faith that our marriages will work out how it is intended, that we will have the right job at the right time, that somehow the rent will get paid, that the unfoldings of the world approach to economics will come to the plan… that GOD HAS IT HANDLED AND THAT WE ARE LISTENING and trusting. That’s it! We’re all in the dessert… Oh, and I never miss the chance to state how the Message (a Bible translation) handles that line Rich mentioned… “Beat it Satan!” Gotta love it.
